Abstract

|
|
Self-Assembled chitosan (SAC) was formed using high molecular weight chitosan (HMWC) by oxidative reaction with potassium persulfate or ammonium persulfate. Prepared SAC was tested to elucidate a potential drug delivery carrier (DDC) which can sustain and release chemicals tested; copper sulfate, bovine serum albumin (BSA), purified curcumin, anthocyanin, maysin and microalgal antioxidant astaxanthin. Our data demonstrated that SAC with different sizes of micro-particles ranging from 4 to 11 mm can be used as a potential DDC for various agents tested in this study.
